Writing at Pitt-Bradford
Baily’s Beads is published by the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford’s creative and professional writing program and has been six times named the best college magazine in the nation by the American Scholastic Press Association.
“The creative writing classroom may be one of the last places you can go where your life still matters,” writes poet Richard Hugo. That’s our philosophy in the Pitt-Bradford writing program—that our lives matter, that a career and a life are integral to each other and can be creative, rewarding, and fulfilling.
If you’re looking to study for a BA in writing, come write with us. We’re eager to hear your stories, nurture your vision, help you explore your ideas and identities, and assist you in approaching your life work creatively.
Our graduates publish books, write for magazines and websites, teach, design games, write scripts, make films, edit, and have gone on for advanced degrees in fields as varied as law, counseling, creative writing, and publishing.
Come write with us! If you have any questions, contact our program director, Prof. Karen Bell at ktb15@pitt.edu.
